NFL Power Rankings: Week 17; Bills put AFC top game on the line against Bengals

Week 16 It is already part of the history books.

The 2022 season of the National Football League has already consumed 88 percent of the calendar and with only 32 games to gothe race for the last postseason spots becomes as narrow as the aisles of a mall on Christmas Eve.

So far, four teams have secured playoff berths in the NFC (Eagles, Vikings, 49ers y Cowboys)and two more can clinch victory on Sunday.

The Buccaneers will clinch the NFC South if they beat the Panthers, and the Giants will clinch an NFC Wild Card if they beat the Colts..

In the AFC the Bills won their third division title on SaturdaylmWhile the Bengals and Ravens clinched wild card berths. Previously the Chiefs were crowned in the West.

The Bills and the Bengals, two of the organizations with the possibility of finishing with the best seed in the AFC, will face off under the lights of Monday Night.

Week 17 of the NFL It will start in 2022 and end in 2023.. It sounds weird, but it’s not.

1.– Buffalo Bills (12-3)

The week before: 2

For the third consecutive season, the Bills clinched the AFC East title. They have become the dominant force in a division that for more than two decades bore the New England Patriots stamp. A bye for the first week of the playoffs is in sight, but they will have to beat the intoxicated Bengals on Monday Night.

The week before: 9

They clinched their first trip to the postseason since 2018 and their second in the past eight years. Their defense still hasn’t allowed 25-plus point games since Week 5.

8.-  Dallas Cowboys (11-4)

The week before: 8

Dak Prescott finished with 347 passing yards and three touchdowns to help defeat the Eagles and keep hopes burning for the NFC East divisional title.

9.- Baltimore Ravens (10-5)

The week before: 9

The Ravens won for the second time in three games without quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has been sidelined with a knee injury. They have secured a postseason berth in the AFC.

10.- Green Bay Packers (7-8)

The week before: 18

Aaron Rodgers passed for 238 yards and a touchdown and was intercepted once, helping the Packers to their third straight win. The team changed the face of its lousy start 4-8.

11.- Detroit Lions(7-8)

The week before: 13

After they had won six of their last seven games, the Lions entered Week 16 hitting .500. With the loss against Carolina, their playoff chances drop again, but they are still in the fight.

12.- New York Giants (8-6-1)

The week before: 14

The Giants got the help they needed with losses to NFC chasers Detroit and Seattle, but couldn’t do what they could to grab a wild card berth.

13.- Miami Dolphins (8-7)

The week before: 10

After losing four straight games, Miami now needs two wins to reach the postseason or a loss to New England.

14.-Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-8)

The week before: 19

The Bucs stayed one game ahead of the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. Tampa Bay has a crucial game at home against Carolina next weekend. They snapped a two-game losing streak with their win over the Cardinals.

15.- Jacksonville Jaguars (7-8)

The week before: 20

Trevor Lawrence passed for 229 yards and rushed for 51 yards, including a touchdown to put the Jaguars in control of their destiny in the AFC South. With wins in their last two games they will take over the division.

16.-Carolina Panthers (6-9)

Last week: 22

D’Onta Foreman rushed for a career-high 165 yards and a touchdown as the Panthers racked up a franchise-record 320 rushing yards behind a dominating performance against the Lions to keep their NFC South title hopes alive. .

17.– New England Patriots (7-8)

The week before: 13

The Patriots have lost four of their last five games and their postseason options are beginning to fade.

18.-Tennessee Titans (7-8)

The week before: 14

Tennessee, the AFC’s top seed last year, is 10th in the AFC. They’re on a five-game losing streak, the first time it’s happened under Mike Vrabel.

19.- Seattle Seahawks (7-8)

The week before: 15

The Seahawks have yet to win at Arrowhead Stadium since November 21, 1999. The Seahawks were one of three teams Patrick Mahomes had yet to beat, along with Indianapolis and Minnesota.

20.- New York Jets (7-8)

Last week: 17

The Jets suffered another blow to their postseason hopes by adding their fourth straight loss. It’s the New Yorkers’ worst streak in two seasons under coach Robert Saleh.

21.-Washington Commanders (7-7-1)

The week before: 18

The Commanders are winless in their last three games, but still hold a half-game lead over Seattle and Detroit in the race for the final NFC playoff spot.

22.- Cleveland Browns (6-9)

Last week: 21

Deshaun Watson’s first year as a Browns player ended in failure. The player suffered a lengthy suspension due to allegations of sexual violence against him and the organization is officially eliminated.

23.-  Atlanta Falcons (5-10)

The week before: 16

The Atlanta Falcons, who entered Week 16 just one game behind first-place Tampa Bay in the NFC South, were knocked out of playoff contention.

24.- Arizona Cardinals (4-11)

Last week: 23

They’ve lost five straight, have turned to three starting quarterbacks.

25.- Pittsburgh Steelers (7-8)

Last week: 26

The Steelers are still struggling not to have a losing season under the Mike Tomlin era. The Steelers won for the fifth time in seven games.

The Raiders will end up with a losing record. Las Vegas, coming off a dramatic last-play victory over New England last week, returned to its form from earlier this season by losing its eighth scoring game of the year.

29.- Indianapolis Colts (4-10-1)

Last week: 27

They struggled for three quarters to compete with the Bills, but eventually lost steam and posted their eighth straight loss, tying a losing franchise record.

32.- Houston Texans (2-12-1)

Last week: 32

Much admiration for the Texans, who lost one-run games to Dallas and Kansas City and then went to Nashville and held the Titans to 14 points to beat them.
