Nigeria: Security forces repel attack on Kaduna airport

#Other countries : Heavily armed men attacked the airport of Kaduna, a major city in northwestern Nigeria, on Saturday, killing a security guard and temporarily interrupting air traffic, authorities and a security source said.

The attack was repelled by security forces, Kaduna State Security Commissioner Samuel Aruwan said on Twitter.

It is the latest violence blamed on gangs known locally as “bandits”, who operate in the northwest and center of Africa’s most populous country, where they loot, kidnap and kill residents.

«Soldiers stationed in and around the airport returned fire and repelled the attackers»Aruwan announced.

«The bandits sadly shot and killed an airport worker who sounded the alarm when he saw them»he added.
