NIGHT CROWNED possesses a musical vision that is as haunting as it is clear. With „Tales“, the band embarks on a new chapter, pushing the boundaries of blackened death metal to unprecedented levels

The symphonic Black/Deather NIGHT CROWNEDfounded by (ex-)members of troops like SCAR SYMMETRY, THE CROWN, NIGHTRAGECIPHER SYSTEM or DARK FUNERAL, got off to a real flying start in 2020 with their debut “Impius Viam”. After an EP that Robert Karlsson sang, a certain K. Romlin (MIST OF MISERY) took over the microphone and this year P. Eldor Pettersson (DESPITE) is now on bass, while H. Liljesand switched from bass to guitar .

But enough of the name-dropping in the line-up carousel, because on the third work “Tales” there is not much to be felt of internal changes, because the extreme metallers deliver a heavy, but also symphonic and catchy piece of metal that is worth listening to.

Heavy riffs and no less tight rhythms meet here with epic keys, orchestrations and choirs, which, thanks to the nasty vocals, are sometimes closer to death metal and sometimes deeper rooted in black metal, creating apocalyptic soundscapes. Later on there are also tasteful, clean choirs that invite you to sing along and provide additional variety. Where the riffs and beats are straight and tasty, NIGHT CROWNED likes to get lost in small details in terms of keys and synths, which are lovingly woven into Extreme Metal. fans of DARK CITIES or CRADLE OF FILTH Friends of the aforementioned Melo-Deather NIGHTRAGE or THE CROWN will get their money’s worth here, too.

This intense and extremely fat project is rounded off by a fat production, a very nice artwork, subtle use of strings and guest contributions from James Rydén (THYRFING) and Therese Thomsson (DISDAINED, SADAUK).
