“Nighttime Curfew Imposed in Port Sudan: Latest Updates and Information”

The governor of the Red Sea state in Sudan issued a statement, on Tuesday, announcing a nighttime curfew in the city of Port Sudan.

The curfew starts from 11 pm to 5 am local time.

The emergency order stated that “in addition to any penalty stipulated in any other law, whoever violates the provisions of this order shall be punished with imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or a fine of an amount not exceeding 3 million Sudanese pounds (regarding 5 thousand dollars) or both penalties, and in the case of Failure to pay imprisonment for a period not exceeding 6 months.

Port Sudan is the second largest Sudanese city following Khartoum, and is located on the Red Sea to the east of the country.

The city assumed great importance with the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan regarding a month and a half ago, as it became a headquarters for the evacuation of stranded people through its airport and port, and it is also a major shipping center.

Recently, the United Nations, some aid agencies, embassies, and departments of the Sudanese central government have moved their operations to Port Sudan, although there has been little unrest.
