“Ninja” teacher slapped a 15-year-old student to the wood 2024-04-14 19:34:34

The teacher, who allegedly beat the student, had no impact, neither from the School Management nor from the Ministry of Education, while the lawyer of the family, Pieros Zapunis, states to the Cyprus Times, that efforts are being made by the High School Management to withdrawing the complaint by blackmailing the student, to take action against him.

Cyprus: From the classroom to the hospital

According to the information, on Wednesday, April 3, the 1st Lyceum student, while in the school’s classroom, bent down to pick up his pen from the floor. At that moment, as he claims, he was attacked by his teacher, in front of all his classmates. The how and the why are confused as as we are informed there was a disturbance during the lesson which possibly caused the teacher’s irritation.

The teacher, according to student testimonies, for obvious reasons told the students that she knows martial arts and for that they should be careful, because she is not afraid of anyone. If this is the case, it is a clear threat of violence, as the course she teaches has nothing to do with such qualifications (she is not a Physical Education teacher).

After the attack and beating of the student, he notified his parents and they went to the Oroklini Police Station where they filed a complaint. The policeman on duty referred him to a Hospital where the student was examined by a government doctor. The examination revealed that the 15-year-old had bruises and a relevant certificate was given which was attached to the complaint form. First aid was administered and the student returned home.

As lawyer Pieros Zapounis reported to the Cyprus Times, the director of the high school called the student’s parents and tried to blackmail them by saying that in order to avoid the 15-year-old being referred to the school’s disciplinary record, he should withdraw the complaint against the teacher that he had made in Police.

The student’s side expresses disappointment both for the delay observed on the part of the Police, but mainly for the attitude of the School’s management which, as they claim, wants to cover up the incident with threats against the student.
