Xbox Series X Achieves Better Definition Than PS5 On Cyberpunk 2077, But It’s Not 4K

Digital Foundry discovered that Cyberpunk 2077 does not run at 2160p, the equivalent of 4K, on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Next-gen consoles struggle to achieve this screen resolution. here is the minimum and maximum definitions of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S depending on the selected mode:

Minimum definition Maximum definition
PlayStation 5
Mode performance / 60 FPS
2240 x 1260 3072 x 1728
PlayStation 5
Ray-tracing / 30 FPS
2560 x 1440 2560 x 1440
Xbox Series X
Mode performance / 60 FPS
2458 x 1382 3168 x 1782
Xbox Series X
Ray-tracing / 30 FPS
2560 x 1440 2560 x 1440
Xbox Series S – 30 FPS 2304 x 1296 2560 x 1440

At the end of the day, the Xbox Series X is doing a little better than the PlayStation 5. It’s still not enough to reach the 2160p definition promised by the next-gen patch. In performance mode, Microsoft’s console oscillates between 1382p and 1782p. The two consoles are maintained at 1440p with ray-tracing mode enabled which is also limited to 30 FPS. Of course, the Xbox Series S cannot offer ray-tracing on Cyberpunk 2077.

Finally, Digital Foundry concluded that visual improvements to Cyberpunk 2077 by the next-gen patch are rather minimal. For the moment, the only solution to play Cyberpunk 2077 in the best conditions is to have a PC muscular enough to support ray-tracing and 4K at 60 FPS.
