World champion in the 3000m steeplechase, on July 20 in Eugene (Oregon), Norah Jeruto is provisionally suspended, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said on Friday. The Kazakh of Kenyan origin is accused of using a prohibited substance or method detected by the biological passport.
Last year, Jeruto won all the races in which she took part on the track and in particular the Prefontaine Classic, a Diamond League meeting which takes place in Eugene. A few weeks later, still at Hayward Field, she won the Worlds in 8’53”02, becoming the third performer in history over the distance.
