After leading 2 sets to 0 on the AONS Milon field, Nantes-Rezé MV finally lost 3-2. A result allowing him to maintain the hope of qualification, which the players will have to seek at home next week.

The NRMV Boys knew even before going to Greece that the match was not going to be easy, especially since the atmosphere there is often heated. And this was felt from the start of the meeting. The Greeks, conquerors, take the first round.

The second round quickly turned to the advantage of Nantes, taking a 5-point lead over their opponent of the day (9-14). But a moment of relaxation later and the counters are reset to zero, the Athenians are back at 15-15. Riding on his momentum, Milon also pockets the second set. If the NRMV does not want to find itself condemned to the feat next week, it cannot concede a 3-0.

From the start of the third round, the managers set the tone for the whole team. Carried by Tomas Lopez, omnipresent at the reception, and Chizoba, unstoppable in attack, the Boys fold the set in less than 25 minutes. With a 16-25, they reduce the score and regain hope.

After a long battle in which neither team wanted to give up. And after numerous blocks, attacks and receptions, the NRMV players ended up taking the advantage in this fourth set to finally win 23-25. The Nantes residents therefore offer themselves, after having been led two sets to zero, the possibility of winning this match in a tie-break.

Unfortunately for them, the decisive set turned to the advantage of the Greeks 15-12, allowing the players of AONS Milon to win this match 3 sets to 2.

Return match at Trocardière

Nothing is lost for the people of Nantes, especially since they know this situation. Already, during the previous round, Franco Massimo’s teammates were defeated 3-2 away, against Kladno, before winning 3-0 at home. They will therefore have to repeat such a performance, or almost, next Tuesday at La Trocardière to hope to qualify for the next round.

But before that, the NRMV meets tomorrow in Tours, with the outgoing champion, for the 16th day of the championship.
