NR election: Holzleitner becomes the top candidate for the SPÖ in Upper Austria

Michael Seemayer follows in number two. The state party leadership nominated the two as the top duo on Monday at the suggestion of state party leader Michael Lindner, the party announced in a press release.

The candidacies still have to be officially approved by the state party executive committee, but that is a formality. Both candidates are currently sitting on an Upper Austria ticket in the National Council. Holzleitner is also likely to be guaranteed a place on the federal list. In 2019, three candidates entered the National Council via the Upper Austrian state list.

“At 30, Eva-Maria Holzleitner is the youngest top candidate in the history of the SPÖ Upper Austria,” said Lindner, adding that she stands “for fair life chances – especially for women, for example through the creation of children’s education and childcare facilities, especially in rural areas “Upper Austria is so often sorely missing.” Holzleitner formulated “justice” as the main topic of the election year – from medical care to education to wage setting. Above all, Seemayer criticized that the “ÖVP-led federal government is oversleeping too much”, such as measures against inflation, and here the SPÖ could change Austria for the better.
