Nurse Luis Castro revealed details this Thursday, May 2, of what happened the day Floridalma Roque arrived for cosmetic surgery at the clinic of plastic surgeon Kevin Malouf, but after the surgical procedure the patient “never woke up” and her body “was left in the fetal position” in the boat in which they put him.
On June 13, 2023, Floridalma Roque attended her scheduled appointment at the Malouf specialized hospital and body weight control aesthetic center; However, the only thing that was known is that she did enter that care center and her relatives reported her disappearance.
Days later, on August 4, the capture of Malouf, the nurses Susana Rojas and Luis Castro, as well as the anesthesiologist Lydia Viviana Silva, were carried out, who were also linked to proceedings and sent to preventive detention for the disappearance of Roque.
By then some details had already emerged, such as videos of suspicious movements on the part of the four detainees; However, it was not until this Thursday, May 2, that Castro testified in an intermediate stage hearing and revealed what happened to the patient who came for a procedure to correct sagging arms and eyelids, but that, according to with the nurse’s statement “he never woke up.”
In his statement, Castro gave details of what, according to him, happened that day at the Malouf clinic and how the surgeon would have destroyed evidence and, with the help of him and other people, would have placed Floridalma Roque’s body in a boat. , in which “he was left in the fetal position.”
The accusation
Malouf is accused by the Public Ministry (MP) in the case of the disappearance of Floridalma Roque, a 59-year-old woman born in Honduras who migrated to the United States and obtained citizenship.
She was last seen on June 13, 2023 after attending a procedure at the Malouf clinic.
On August 4, the plastic surgeon, Malouf Sierra, the nurses Susana Rojas and Luis Castro and the anesthesiologist Lydia Viviana Silva, were linked to proceedings and sent to preventive detention for Roque’s disappearance.
The clinic where Roque was admitted operates in Europlaza, in zone 14 of Guatemala City. The woman traveled from the United States to vacation for a few days and planned to have surgery for sagging arms and eyelids.
The surgical intervention was scheduled for June 13 at 7 a.m. Five minutes before she sent a WhatsApp message to her children, and then nothing more was heard from her. All of this motivated her relatives to activate an Isabel – Claudina alert to try to locate her.
Roque entered the country on June 3, 2023 on a flight that arrived at La Aurora International Airport from Honduras, Roque’s country of birth.
The hypothesis
The MP has the hypothesis that an emergency occurred during the intervention of the American woman and the four people involved wanted to pretend that she had left of her own free will.
Malouf Sierra has two more open cases in the MP. Since Roque’s case was made known, another case came to light that was reported in 2021. This is the death of Johana Yanileth Salman Oliva, a young woman originally from San Luis, Petén.
The young woman underwent, according to investigations, liposuction. She was the daughter-in-law of the late former deputy Macario Efraín Oliva Muralles and former mayor of San Luis, Petén.
The other case was reported in 2019. A doctor who underwent surgery reported Malouf for negligent injuries due to a case in which he was paralyzed. The MP has not provided further details about both cases until now.
