Nutritionist points out the 5 worst food options

With the increasingly hectic routine and the lack of time to organize meals, having a quick snack on the street is sometimes the only solution to eat. However, most of the time, the available options are not at all healthy and can pose serious risks to the health of the consumer.

The important thing is to make conscious choices. Nutritionist Patrícia Santiago, a specialist in bariatric patients and weight loss, listed five types of food to avoid when eating outside the home – and inside as well.

“These are foods with low nutritional value that trigger an inflammatory condition in the body, contributing to the development of obesity and cancer”, he points out.

Soft drinks

Due to the high amount of sugar and preservatives present in the formula, soft drinks are at the top of the list of foods to be avoided. “Specifically on cola drinks, there are studies that show an increase in the incidence of cancer due to the high amount of phosphoric acid they contain”, says Patrícia.

Fried food

Potatoes, snacks and even proteins: as delicious as these foods may be, they are fried in vegetable oil, increasing the intake of saturated fat. According to the nutrologist, the reuse of oil should also be taken into account, since its use further worsens the quality of food.

Excess intake of saturated fat can cause an increase in bad cholesterol in the blood, known as LDL, the incidence of diabetes, high blood pressure and other diseases.

Chips

Despite being simple carbohydrates, processing to increase the shelf life of the product causes snacks to have a high glycemic index, raising insulin in the body and causing inflammation in the body.

box juices

Just like soft drinks, industrialized juices are rich in sugars and syrups, raising blood glucose and causing harm to the health of the consumer.

sauces

Patrícia warns against the consumption of greasy sauces and condiments ready for salads, ketchup and mayonnaise. This type of food is high in sodium, preservatives and other artificial additives.
