Significant loss of time between Walserberg and Karawanken tunnel, A1 roadblock in Slovenia, several border crossings and roads in the lower-level network impassable

Vienna (OTS) The ÖAMTC reported that Saturday travel continued with long traffic jams. There were massive delays, especially on the Tauern Autobahn (A10), and accidents caused additional obstructions.

“For the route Walserberg – St. Michael, you had to reckon with a time loss of around two hours on Saturday morning,” reported ÖAMTC traffic jam advisor Herbert Thaler live from the A10 in Salzburg. “The traffic jam between the border and Golling is particularly stubborn, but there are also sections with stop-and-go traffic further south, such as between Gmünd and Villach in Carinthia,” says Thaler. There were long delays in the return journey between Hüttau and Werfen.

The situation also remained tense in front of the Karawanken Tunnel (A11):
In both directions, the waiting time was sometimes between one and one and a half hours, according to the club.

The border crossings to Slovenia and the Slovenian A1 are still closed

In our southern neighbor Slovenia, the flood situation remained critical. A number of connections were undermined or muddied. The ÖAMTC appealed to travelers to stay on the motorways even if there were traffic delays. In the Carinthian districts of Völkermarkt and Wolfsberg, the smaller border crossings to Slovenia were still not passable, and the Loiblpass (B91) also remained closed. In Slovenia itself, the A1 between Ljubljana and Celje was still closed. A number of side roads and nearby bypass routes were also blocked. According to the ÖAMTC, evasion was possible over a large area via motorways.
