Obesity – Hossam Mowafi reveals its pathological causes and risks

Dr. Hossam Mawafi, Professor of Critical Cases at Kasr Al-Aini Medical School, confirmed that obesity is one of the most dangerous diseases that humans afflict, noting that the rate of its incidence has increased around the world to three times.

Muwafi said during his program, “Rabbi Zadni Alma”, which is broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, that obesity threatens those with very serious complications, such as atherosclerosis and arthritis.

The professor of critical care medicine explained that there is a type of obesity that is not related to eating, known as morbid obesity, which occurs due to some diseases, such as diabetes, high cortisone in the body and hypothyroidism.

He added that obesity is not limited to adults only, but it is possible for children to suffer from it as well, because mothers do not care regarding the amount of food that the child eats.

He pointed out that the obese patient should stay away from white foods, such as potatoes, rice, flour and pasta, and replace them with vegetables, which are characterized by their low calories and rich in fibers that help satiety.
