The port was opened as the first dry port in Egypt, and the port is located in the heart of the industrial zone in the new 6th of October City on an area of 100 acres in addition to a logistic area of 300 acres. The maximum capacity of the port is 720 containers / day, and the storage capacity is 260 thousand equivalent containers annually. Direct, 500 workers, in addition to 2,000 indirect job opportunities. The port is linked to the Egyptian railway network through the Manashi-6th of October link that connects the port to the Imbaba El-Manashi/Al Ittihad line.
The Ministry of Transport has developed a comprehensive plan for the establishment of 14 dry ports and logistical centers nationwide, accommodating 6 million TEUs annually (October 6th – Tenth of Ramadan – Sadat – New Borg El Arab – New Damietta – New Fayoum – Kom Abu Rady “Bani Suef” – New Sohag – Qastal – Arqin – Al-Tur – Salloum) with the aim of preventing overcrowding in sea ports and linking them to dry ports and logistical centers to facilitate the movement of trade.
