ODI and T20 Call-ups Secured: Liam Scott and Spencer Johnson

South Australian cricket will feature prominently in Australia’s upcoming white-ball series against England, as Liam Scott and Spencer Johnson receive ODI call-ups, joining fellow South Australians Travis Head and Alex Carey. Johnson has also been included in the T20 squad along with South Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk, increasing the state’s contingent across both squads to five players.

Following their selection, Scott and Johnson expressed excitement about representing Australia, with both anticipating the opportunity to play in front of a home crowd at Adelaide Oval.

Player Reactions to Selection

“Anytime you get picked to potentially represent your country, it’s a nice little feeling,” Scott said. “Hopefully I get the opportunity over the next three games and show what I can do.” The all-rounder expressed confidence in his abilities across both batting and bowling, stating he has been keen to produce a strong performance early in the season.

“I’ve got full confidence in my game… self belief that if I go out, I can have an impact and do well for whoever I’m playing for,” Scott said.

For Johnson, selection in both the ODI and T20 squads marks another step in his comeback from injury, with the left-arm quick happy to be establishing a pattern of consistent performances at the state level.

“This is the most games leading up to a series I’ve played,” Johnson said. “I’ve strung a couple of ODIs together, a game for South Australia, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Looking Ahead to the England Series

The pair are looking forward to testing themselves against an England side boasting plenty of experience. “India and England are probably the two biggest series you can play against in world cricket,” Scott said. “They’ve got a quality outfit, some unbelievable players and have done it for long periods of time, so we’re looking forward to getting out there in front of some really big crowds and hopefully getting a few wins for the country.”

Series Schedule

The ODI series begins in Perth on Friday November 13, before moving to Adelaide Oval on Sunday 15 November.
