OECD annual inflation rises to 10.3% in August

Annual consumer inflation in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) area rose to 10.3% in August from 10.2% in July, the organization said. tuesday.

After a first drop in annual inflation in July, since November 2020, compared to June, the rate rose again in August.

“15 OECD countries continued to record double-digit inflation during August 2022, with the highest rates seen in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Turkey (all above 20% ),” the OECD said, including the three small Baltic states bordering Russia, against the backdrop of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Energy prices in the OECD area increased by 30.2%, year on year, in August 2022, a figure significantly lower than the annual jump of 35.3% seen last July.

“By contrast, food price inflation and inflation excluding food and energy continued to rise in the OECD in August 2022,” added the same source.

The rate was 7.5% for the G7 countries, 9.2% for the G20 countries and 9.1% for the euro zone during the month of August.
