Oklahoma State won its third game in a row with a 48-34 victory over West Virginia on Saturday in Morgantown.
The game was Mike Gundy’s 400th associated with the Cowboys and, as usual, Ollie Gordon left us in awe. Here are superlatives that stood out from OSU’s trip to Morgantown.
Offensive MVP: Ollie Gordon
I’m running out of words to write about this man.
Gordon rushed for 282 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries, averaging 9.7 yards an attempt. The 282-yard rushing total in a single game is the ninth all-time in OSU history. Barry Sanders, David Thompson, Chuba Hubbard and Thurman Thomas are the only former Cowboys to outrush Gordon in a single game.
Defensive MVP: Kendal Daniels
This was a tossup between Daniels and Nick Martin, but Daniels ultimately sealed this honor in the first quarter.
After a muffed punt gave WVU great field position, Daniels punched the ball out of Kole Taylor’s grip then recovered the ball himself, too.

Daniels finished the game second on the team with 11 total tackles (eight solo), a tackle for loss and the fumble play.
Defensive Honorable Mention: Nick Martin
Martin led the Cowboys with 17 tackles (10 solo). He also had 1.5 tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry.
Play of the Game: Gordon’s Third Touchdown Run
This play itself maybe wasn’t the most impressive, but it did leave me in awe the most because of Gordon’s performance and what he’s proved to be capable of.
This 46-yard touchdown was ultimately the dagger for OSU and also put Gordon over 200 rushing yards for the day.

Offensive Stat that Stood Out: Gordon’s 29 carries
I know the 282 rushing yards pop off the screen more, but Gordon’s 29 carries Saturday showed that OSU’s offense now rides or dies on Ollie Gordon. He also got 29 carries last week against Kansas.
The stat that actually stands out the most because of Gordon’s bulk of carries was that no other OSU running back got a carry Saturday. After rotating pretty evenly the first three games of the season, Gordon now has full control of this backfield. And he should.
Gundy’s 400th Game
Saturday’s win against West Virginia was Mike Gundy’s 400th game associated with OSU as a coach and player. No person has been more affixed with America’s Brightest Orange than that man, who’s no longer 40 but 56 years old.
Gundy’s 400 games break down 238 as head coach, 116 as an assistant coach and 46 as a player. He’s 237-160-3 overall as a Cowboy– 161-77 as a head coach and 30-16 as a player.
Gundy has Third Most Big 12 Wins
Gundy’s 400th game overall and 161st win as a head coach also tied him in third for most Big 12 wins. He’s tied with Mack Brown at 98 conference wins.
Bob Stoops leads the category with 121 Big 12 wins, followed by Bill Snyder at 104. Gundy will most likely reach 100 Big 12 wins this season and could very well pass Snyder on the list sometime next year.
