Washington – At 96 years old, the oldest US federal judge, Pauline Newman, was suspended from duty on Wednesday because of questions regarding her mental competency following she refused an examination. A staff interview revealed evidence that the judge, appointed in 1984 by then-President Ronald Reagan, “may be suffering from significant mental problems – including memory loss, poor comprehension and confusion,” the Judicial Council said.
