Oligui Nguéma at the heart of the Ivorian agricultural miracle

Staying in Abidjan in Ivory Coast where he arrived yesterday as part of a working and friendship visit, the President of the Transition, President of the Republic, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema made this Friday, in the company of the Gabonese and Ivorian authorities, the visit to the National Center for Agricultural Research, the nerve center of the agricultural miracle of this country which breaks world records in terms of agricultural production.

Created in 1998 following the merger of several specialized agricultural research institutes and, present throughout the Ivorian territory, the National Center for Agronomic Research serves as an advisor to the Ivorian State in matters of agricultural development on the one hand, and implements technologies for the benefit of producers, on the other hand.

The CNRA thus aims to increase and adapt technological innovations in rural areas in a sustainable manner, production and productivity in the agricultural and agro-industrial fields through research on plant, animal and forestry production, as well as conservation and transformation systems among other objectives. As such, the model piloted by the CNRA is the engine of agricultural development in Côte d’Ivoire.

Furthermore, the Head of State visited the Azito Power Plant, one of the most important in terms of electricity production in Côte d’Ivoire. Entered into service in 1999, the Ivorian thermal power plant produces electricity using gas and thus increases the nominal electricity production capacity of the Ivory Coast. It therefore makes it possible to fully meet electricity needs to support agriculture, the creation of industrial zones and all sectors of activity.

It is therefore within the framework of strengthening south-south cooperation that the Head of State came to draw inspiration from the Ivorian experience both in terms of energy and agriculture in order to fill the deficit in these areas in Gabon. .
