Olsen saved penalty – still lost

The national team’s goalkeeper Robin Olsen saved a penalty for his Aston Villa on Sunday.
However, the penalty save was not enough for any points.
The rebound went into goal and Aston Villa lost to Brighton.

Blågult’s goalkeeper Robin Olsen has been trusted in Aston Villa’s goal in recent games in the absence of regular goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

When Aston Villa visited Brighton on Sunday, Olsen again got the chance from the start.

In the closing stages of the match, Brighton received a penalty. Olsen managed to take that penalty, but the rebound went straight to the penalty taker, who was able to head his own rebound into the goal.

Olsen waved and yelled at his teammates in a gesture that he wanted help on the return.

– Olsen is so unlucky there, said the expert Alan Smith in Sky Sports about the situation.

Former Liverpool and Aston Villa player Stephen Warnock filled in:

– It wasn’t a good penalty but it was a very smart save. Olsen couldn’t get the ball off the post, all he could do was hit it back to Pedro (the penalty taker), Warnock said on the BBC, continuing:

– Another good save from Olsen today. It would take something like that to score on him today.

Despite the loss, Robin Olsen’s Aston Villa are still fourth in the Premier League and will most likely qualify for the Champions League next season.
