The MVP of the match was the captain of Olympiakos, Kostas Papanikolaou, with 16 points (2/3 three-pointers), 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 error and 22 points in the evaluation system. Isaiah Keinaan with 15 points and 5/7 three-pointers followed him in performance, while Alec Peters scored 13 points, sharing 4 assists. Larentzakis added 11 points, while Moses Wright… touched the double double, with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Naz Mitrou Long scored 9 points with 3 accurate 3-pointers.
Olympiacos did not have Filip Petrusev, who is out for 2-3 weeks, due to the bone swelling he suffered after his injury in last Thursday’s (21/3) match against Villeurbanne at SEF. Nikola Milutinov remains out, while due to a sprain that continues to trouble Tomas Walkup, Bartzokas preferred to leave the American guard out of the lineup.
From the Achaeans, Chad Brown scored a double double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The quarters: 9-28, 35-46, 50-73, 63-93
The Olympians were dominant in the 1st period and after starting with a 0-7 streak, they overtook with +17 (4-21), in the 7th minute, thanks to the “hot” outside 6.75 Isaiah Keinaan. The gap widened to 9-28 at the end of the first quarter. With a spike by Moses Wright, the Piraeus escaped with +24 (18-42), in the 14th minute. The Achaeans found solutions in the attack with Blondin, but Giannoulis Larentzakis had… spirits. In the last three minutes before halftime, Olympiacos made mistakes as a result of which the Achaeans found free three-pointers and with an 8-0 run went to -11 (35-46) in the locker room.
Apollon came close to -8 (40-48), taking advantage of the lack of interest from the “red and white” side. Papanikolaou and Keinaan took it… personally and “signed” Olympiakos’ 10-0 streak, for +18 (40-58). Bartzoka’s players got serious, overtook with +21 (48-69), for +23 (50-73) in the 30th minute. The team from Piraeus continued strong in the 4th period with Peters and Wright leading the way in this period for +27 (55-87). The “red and white” escaped with +29 (57-86) for the final 63-93.
