Olympiaworld relies on photovoltaics – tirol.ORF.at

In the course of energy-saving measures, the Olympiaworld in Innsbruck, including the Tivoli Stadium and the state sports center, wants to rely on photovoltaics. The city announced that in the foreseeable future, 80 percent of the energy requirement should be covered by solar power.

There are many adjustments that are being made at Olympiaworld, in which the state and city of Innsbruck each have a half stake, in order to reduce energy consumption. Until now, this source of energy has been neglected in Tyrol, now we want to catch up – more on that in Tyrol brings up the rear when it comes to photovoltaic systems.

Tyrol wants to catch up with the expansion of solar energy generation.

Tivoli lawn heating will probably run less often

Energy should be saved with a lower room temperature in the buildings – from the offices to the TIWAG ice arena, and the undersoil heating of the Tivoli stadium will also be severely restricted, the city said.

The sports and event center, which also includes the bobsleigh and toboggan run in Igls, now wants to increasingly produce its own electricity. In the course of the current investment program, it is being examined whether large-scale photovoltaic systems are possible on the roof surfaces of the Olympic Hall, Tivoli Stadium and State Sports Center. And during the necessary conversion of the Igler ice track, it will be checked whether the first energy self-sufficient artificial ice rink in the world can be realized through the use of photovoltaics.
