According to the decree published this Saturday in the Official Journal (JO), state aid for the purchase of an electric bicycle, known as “bike bonus”, will be greatly increased on Monday August 15, with additional amounts for people disabled or on low income.
A “bike bonus” reserved for low or very low incomes
The maximum amount for the purchase of an electric bicycle will increase from 200 to 300 euros (+50%) and will no longer be subject to the payment of aid from a local authority. It remains reserved for people whose taxable income per unit is less than 13,489 euros.
For people in disability et those whose tax income benchmark per unit is less than or equal to 6,300 eurosthe aid can go up to 400 euros.
Cargo bike, folding bike, trailer: up to 2,000 euros in bonuses
This bicycle bonus increases considerably when applied to the purchase of a cargo bikeof a folding bike (now eligible) or a electric bike trailer: for these much more expensive vehicles, the maximum bonus will be 1,000 euros for the beneficiaries of the aid.
And, 2,000 euros for people in disability et those whose tax income benchmark per unit is less than or equal to 6,300 euros.
For all the other types of bikethey will be entitled to aid of an amount equivalent to 40% of the purchase price, up to a maximum of 150 euros.
In effect, conventional non-electric bicycles also become eligible for the bonus for resource-tested households and for people with disabilities.
In 2023, the premium for the conversion of polluting/zero emission vehicles will be doubled
Finally, for those who wish to get rid of a polluting vehicle to buy an electric bicycle, the maximum amount of the conversion bonus is increased to 1,500 euros. And 3,000 euros for people with disabilities or low incomes.
Finally, this conversion bonus will also be accessible to several members of the same tax household from the January 1, 2023.
