On your knees without a fight!

We have never seen that in 50 years of boxing in Quebec. Neither in Canada. There was an official presentation by Simon Kean and Newfel Ouatah.

Then, at the sound of the gong, Ouatah took a step forward and knelt in front of a dumbfounded Simon Kean.

Finished. No fight. The crowd was completely stunned.

In one corner, we made sure that Camille Estephan didn’t get too carried away and Ouatah took the time to explain what had happened to Jean Douville of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec.

Ouatah would have received a notice from the French Boxing Federation at 4 p.m. yesterday, the day of the fight, formally prohibiting him from fighting the same evening.

Insurance issue maybe.

No pay

Ouatah got into the ring, probably hoping to get his purse anyway.

After its abandonment, Camille Estephan and Virginie Assaly were seen climbing the stairs leading to the second floor of the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal. Estephan was furious and wanted to make sure no checks were given and no bank transfers were made.

We will find out more…
