There was no big surprise in the second round of the presidential elections. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu can count it as a success to have forced the old and new President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in runoff elections at all. But that is little consolation for those who have been hoping for a change, a return to the values of liberal democracy that Turkey embarked on twenty years ago.
