ONCF: Al Boraq goes green for eco-responsible mobility

The National Railways Office (ONCF) is taking a further step in its energy transition, by running all of its Al Boraq trains on clean energy from January 1.

In a press release sent to our editorial staff, the ONCF explains that it is progressively carrying out its green transformation, by switching 25% of its overall energy consumption to green energy, reaching 50% in 2023 before carrying it forward. in full, in the medium term.

This ecological transformation is, according to ONCF, in line with the national energy strategy, led under the impetus and leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, who places renewable energies at the center of our country’s energy mix.

Thus, details the press release, thanks to the clean energy provided by a national operator, the ONCF is greening the electrical supply cycle of the national rail network, by substituting its electricity consumption with clean energy, which will allow it in the short term , improve its overall carbon footprint, with the equivalent of 120,000 tonnes of CO2 avoided each year, or even 4 million trees planted.

Indeed, traveling by train is one of the best ways to limit its carbon footprint, assures the ONCF noting that on average, the train emits 25 to 30 times less greenhouse gases than other modes of transport.

And to encourage its customers to adopt a more respectful attitude towards nature, by reducing their carbon footprint, the ONCF will soon launch marketing actions aimed at making Al Boraq the best ally for eco-responsible travel, promises the ONCF.
