One child dead and four injured after a shooting at a market in Texas

PEARLAND, Texas (AP) — Two children and three other people were shot at a market in Texas Sunday night, and one child later died at the hospital, according to police.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired at Cole’s Flea Market in the Pearland area at 5:34 p.m., Pearland police said on X, formerly Twitter. The victims were taken to hospitals.

The shooting occurred following an argument between two people who did not know each other, Officer Chad Rogers said at an evening news conference. The two people exchanged shots inside the premises, police said.

There was a suspect at large, according to police. At first no details were given regarding the second shooter.

The area is regarding 17 miles (27 kilometers) south of Houston.
