One day after the seizures, the rector of Alas Peruanas says that prosecutor Benavides did not study at that university

The rector of the Alas Peruanas University said that the prosecutor took a refresher course at that house of studies.

Alejandro Cruzata Martínez, rector of the Alas Peruanas University, said that the master’s and doctoral courses of the National Prosecutor, Patricia Benavides Vargas, were taken at the San Martín de Porres University and that the UAP only supported their academic degrees.

As recalled, the Public Ministry began an investigation promoted by the Nation’s own prosecutor to obtain her master’s and doctorate degrees. First, this superior house of studies -not licensed- replied that it did not have the documents. And this Thursday, the UAP authorities said that the then student, Patricia Benavides, only supported her academic degrees.

“Benavides only took an update at the UAP and the preparation of the theses was carried out at the San Martín de Porres University,” said Cruzata.

“We are talking about a former student of ours, not a prosecutor, but the student Patricia Benavides, who was at our university between 2008 and 2009. But this former student did her master’s degree not at the Universidad Alas Peruanas, and did her doctorate not at the Universidad Alas Peruanas”, said the rector at a press conference.

According to the rector, “the two academic programs (master’s and doctoral) were completed at the San Martín de Porres University.” One of them was done in the years 94 and 95, when he finished his master’s studies; and the other, in 2001 and 2002, upon finishing doctoral studies.

Courses at the UAP were update programs

The courses that Patricia Benavides took at the Alas Peruanas University were not doctoral and master’s degrees, but updating programs that she enrolled in to obtain her degree seven years after completing the courses, at the beginning of 2000.

Cruzata Martínez said that seven years after completing his master’s and doctoral degrees from the program, he is included in an update program that several Peruvian universities did for the pre and post. “One could complete undergraduate studies at one university and later support at another,” she clarified.

In 2008, the student Benavides passed for this update course with thesis 1, thesis 2, thesis 3 and thesis 4, to conclude the studies she had received at the USMP in the 1990s, understood as 94 and 95. And later to this, in the PhD update course. That they are not courses per se of the master’s and doctoral programs. They are for leveling or upgrading.”

Uncertainty continues about the theses of the National Prosecutor

Although it is now known that the prosecutor Benavides did not study her master’s and doctorate at the UAP, and the question arises as to why she did not say so, especially if the congresswoman, Susel Paredes Piqué, has insistently requested them, they are not available.

As reported, through a letter, from the UAP it was stated that Patricia Benavides’ Master’s and Doctorate theses “do not work in the documentary or digital heritage.”

At night, congresswoman Paredes Piqué specified in her networks that when it was ratified in 2010, prosecutor Benavides omitted any reference to the Universidad Alas Peruanas, which approved her degree theses (2009). In addition, she declared 6 months of study in English and 2 in Quechua. The law required knowledge of 2 foreign languages for the degree of Doctor. How did she do it?

What did the prosecutor say about your theses last year?

In August 2022, the prosecutor was interviewed by the El Trome newspaper of the El Comercio group. When she was made to see that she was questioning her doctorate and master’s degree, she said that she obtained them practically at the same time. What do you have to say?

Once again I tell you that this is misinformation and it is an attack with lies, since my master’s degree is from 2008 and my doctorate is from 2009, and they take information and put dates on the registration of titles, which is an administrative procedure and they do not tell the truth of the dates that are of the titles.
