Onemi decrees a yellow alert in Iquique for a fire that affects dozens of homes
The National Emergency Office declared Yellow alert for the commune of Iquique due to the residential structural fire that is registered in the Laguna Verde sector. According to Onemi’s estimate, preliminary, there are 200 victims and 20 houses with damage.
Onemi issued a report hours after the incident began, mentioning that “Due to the presence of irregular houses, the place is difficult to access, in addition to not having a network of taps for the work of Firefighters “.
In that sense, they indicated that “the fight against this fire has concentrated the resources available in this commune, being necessary the reinforcement of the members of the National System of Prevention and Response to Disasters (SINAPRED), to respond to the evolution of this event “.
With these antecedents on the table, it is that the “Regional Presidential Delegation of Tarapacá, in coordination with the Regional Directorate of ONEMI, declares Yellow Alert for the commune of Iquique, due to structural fire, effective as of today and until the fire conditions warrant it. “

Tarapacá Firefighters work at the site, supported by Alto Hospicio and Pozo Almonte Firefighters, Aguas del Altiplano cistern, 3 cistern of the Municipality of Iquique, cistern of the Municipality of Alto Hospicio, cistern of the Ministry of Public Works, personnel cistern Armada de Chile, municipal personnel from Iquique, personnel from the electricity company CGE, SAMU and personnel from the Regional Directorate of ONEMI Tarapacá.
