OnePlus Nord N20: Amoled screen and formalization in April

OnePlus is preparing the launch of a new entry-level smartphone. The brand reveals some of the characteristics of its Nord N20, successor to the Nord N10 and which is scheduled to be launched in the coming weeks.

OnePlus distinguished itself in the first quarter of 2022 by launching two smartphones: the North CE 2 first, offering a good entry-level/mid-range 5G experience; and the 10 Pro located in the very high-end market. Oppo’s sister brand does not intend to stop there and, if we are to believe the information leaks and rumors, Nord CE 2 Lite and Nord 3 would be on the way. But it’s another model from this same series that is much more officially talked about today: the Nord N20.

If the smartphone has not yet shown itself from all angles, our colleagues from PC Mag indicate having spoken with the American teams of OnePlus, who detailed to them what to expect from this Nord N20, successor to the very correct North N10. The manufacturer has not confirmed the N20’s compatibility with 5G, but it’s a safe bet that it will be there, as the N10 itself supports this network. On the other hand, the brand specifies that its device will be equipped with a 6.43-inch Amoled screen with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. If the N20 wins a more promising panel, the N10 being satisfied with an LCD screen, it will lose therefore the 90 Hz of his eldest. It will also benefit from a fingerprint reader hidden under its screen, replacing the dorsal reader of the Nord N10 5G.

OnePlus did not say more, but confirms the design of the smartphone: there are two photo modules, as well as the indication of the definition of one of them, fixed at 64 megapixels. This was also the case for the main sensor of the N10 5G which was accompanied by an ultra-wide-angle module (8 Mpx) and two other 2 Mpx sensors (macro and depth) which seem to have disappeared on the N20. It remains to be seen whether this smartphone will be marketed in Europe, OnePlus adopting a differentiated strategy according to the markets; the Nord CE 2 was thus not offered for sale in the United States. The information shouldn’t take too long, PC Mag suggesting a launch before the end of April.
