Alexander Pushkin’s fairy tales are often read to very young children. But the poet did not write his works for children. This is indicated, among other things, by very piquant details in the works of the classic.
Take the same “Tale of the Golden Cockerel”. The Shamakhan queen, for example, spends a whole week with Dadon in a tent. Of course, the writer does not reveal all the details of what is happening. But adults can read between the lines.
There is also a more obvious detail indicating that the so-called fairy tale is still intended for an audience of 18+. Remember the wizard to whom the king turns for help when he gets tired of raids? Pushkin writes about him that he was an astrologer and eunuch.
Nowadays, few people understand the meaning of the second word. In short, this is what they called a castrated man. That is why, when the wizard asks the king to have privacy with the Shamakhan queen, he is perplexed: “Why do you need a girl?”
It turns out that the poet’s work contains some rather piquant moments that children are better off not knowing about.
