Since it was proclaimed a Municipality, in 1985 by decree of then-governor Eduardo César Angeloz, in Sinsacate there have only been confrontations between radicals and Peronists and on all those occasions the UCR has always prevailed.
Sinsacate became a municipality without having the number of inhabitants required by the municipal organic law, but Angeloz intended to install the Information Center there, a bold initiative that did not come to fruition, like the installation of the Honda factory in Cruz del Eje, or the Manganese plant in Pozo Nuevo.
And Alicio Cargnelutti, who was the municipal commissioner, was appointed mayor until the 1987 elections where he prevailed comfortably, and revalidated his titles in 1991, 1995, 1999, and 2003 as a candidate for the Radical Civic Union.
Then would come the turn of Carlos Ciprián in 2007 and 2011, Rubén Ferreyra in 2015, and Ciprián again in 2019. Now, in 2023, the current mayor is going for his second re-election.
Marcelo Villafañe (2007), Andrés Molina (2011), Jonathan Correa (2015), and Melisa Sjodin (2019) were the candidates that the PJ presented during the last elections and obtained negative results. Correa is, once again, the candidate for this Sunday.
Although the municipality has voted before with the Single Ballot, the difficulty for voters is presented not in the provincial and local vote for the same party but for those who vote split.
For this reason, with the official model ballot in hand, the candidates go house to house to explain how this “cut” is made for those who will vote one thing for governor and another for mayor.
It is worth remembering that Sinsacate has been receiving a co-participation equivalent to 1,900 inhabitants when, according to the electoral roll and other own statistics, it would be close to 4,000 inhabitants.
