Vienna (OTS) – Dear colleagues of the Executive Board of the Vienna Medical Association!
Deeply shocked by the way in which the Vienna State Medical Association is currently carrying out a dispute in public, we, as presidents of the other state medical associations, take the liberty of asking you to reflect and reconsider your behavior.
Return to political work and let the democratic committees do their substantive work.
We do not want to take a partisan position in this conflict in Vienna. Neither can we judge what part of President Steinhart’s public prejudgment will ultimately be confirmed in court. We can still judge which of the rumored violations of the rules of procedure in the meetings were actually legally incorrect.
By making the dispute public, you are doing immense damage to the reputation of all Austrian chambers and the reputation of the entire medical profession.
In the public eye, you all create a catastrophic image of the medical associations as a whole; the majority of Austrians do not perceive us differently as state associations.
We therefore urge you to seek reasonable and democratic solutions to your conflict. This conflict can only be overcome if you all take a step back, find objectivity and do not escalate further.
