Cheers and applause erupted from employees, customers and guests when he and Chancellor Olaf Scholz entered a factory building shortly after noon on Tuesday for the official opening of the new Tesla plant in Grünheide near Berlin. Cell phones shot up en masse for recordings like a pop star performance, loud music shook the walls.
