People can benefit from four videoconference sessions free of charge

In order to help the French community hard hit by the bloody Hamas terrorist attacks perpetrated on October 7 in Israel, a French-speaking psychological emergency unit “Operation Sarah” was set up by Rebecca, (psychologist and EMDR therapist), Muriel (coach) and Elea (interior decorator). “Operation Sarah” supports victims of attacks but also victims of post-traumatic stress and all those who feel the need to consult due to the ongoing war.

Beyond the relatives of the 35 French people murdered, the 9 missing, and many injured, there are hundreds of French people among a community of 200,000 people in Israel who have directly experienced significant trauma linked to terrorist acts and state of war.

“The massacres of October 7, and the resulting war, have plunged the world into distress and disarray. In Israel, many existing structures as well as new crisis units developed urgently already offer psychological support to those who need it. Unfortunately, too many people are left behind, due to lack of staff, lack of information or due to language barriers. However, the sooner disorders are treated, the more we have chances of preventing an acute stress disorder from developing into post-traumatic stress disorder. We are de facto engaged in a real race against time…,” Rebecca told i24NEWS.

“Operation Sarah was born from a double observation: first of all, there are many French speakers who do not master Hebrew and it is essential, within the framework of EMDR therapy, that they are taken care of in their language kindergarten. In addition, there is a real deficit of French-speaking EMDR therapists in Israel. Then, few structures offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), that is to say the desensitization and reprocessing of information by eye movements. However, it is this therapy that is recommended in the treatment of trauma by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm). over a few days, around a hundred volunteer French-speaking therapists from all over the world (France, Israel, Belgium, the Netherlands, Madagascar, New Caledonia, etc.), Jews and non-Jews, joined the ranks of Operation Sarah”, continues Rebecca .

The ‘Operation Sarah’ team is made up of French-speaking volunteer psychologists and psychiatrists in France, Israel and around the world, specializing in the management of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) via EMDR therapy, in order to to ensure rapid and effective remote treatment of victims. They focus in particular on EMDR therapy, recognized and recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Institute of Health and Medical Research ( INSERM) and the High Authority of Health (HAS), as an effective treatment for PTSD, whether acute or chronic.

Each person who contacts the platform by WhatsApp, the website, the Instagram account or the Facebook page, and who meets the support criteria, will benefit from four videoconference sessions with a specialized psychologist according to a well-established protocol, as soon as possible. promptly.

Furthermore, “Operation Sarah” collaborates with official EMDR organizations in France and Israel, and in contact with victims with the LEV association and the Maison de la famille.

Here are the characteristic symptoms that should alert you if a person has suffered from them for more than 3 days and in particular if they have had more than 9:
