From Rio de Janeiro

The new general survey on the opinion of the Brazilian population on the situation of the country, the government and Lula has come out. It is the most systematic survey available to Brazil. The press tries not to spread the results, confirming that it constitutes the great axis of the opposition to the government.

It is the best survey institution and the most systematic. What it says?

60% of those consulted approve Lula’s work, while 35% disapprove. The survey was conducted between August 10 and 14. The previous one had been carried out between February and June.

The Northeast continues to be the region that gives the most support to Lula, going from 71 to 75%, but support in the South and Central South grew substantially from 48 to 59% and from 51 to 55%, with a small drop in the North. and the center-west, from 56 to 52%.

Among the rejection in the regions: the Northeast dropped from 28 to 25%, in the Southeast it went from 42% to 39%, in the South, from 49% to 38%, in the North and the Center-West, from 42%. at 39%.

Support among women rose from 58 to 60%. Among men, it went from 54 to 59%. Among Catholics it was from 61 to 63%, while among Evangelicals it became the majority: from 44 to 50%. Regarding the evaluation of the government, the positive image rose from 37 to 42%, the negative fell from 27 to 34%.

Support for Lula remains practically the same among those who voted for him and advances among those who voted for Bolsonaro.

The biggest concern of Brazilians continues to be violence in daily life and public order, with reasons. But the country returned to experience a climate of optimism.

Meanwhile, on a Wednesday like any other, the majority of people’s concerns were elsewhere. Thousands of fans went to the airport to receive the player Dimitri Payet (former Olimpique de Marseille) who was arriving to try to save Vasco da Gaa from going to B. And thousands of Corinthians fans attended the team’s training for the match against São Paulo , in the final of the Brazilian Cup. Everything seems normal in Brazilian society.

In another normal circumstance in Brazil today, former President Bolsonaro is closer than ever to the possibility of going to jail after allegations of smuggling of state jewelry.

Meanwhile, Lula has spoken with Biden about environmental problems, before embarking, this week, for the Brics summit in South Africa, where he will surely have a leading role.

Lula is already surfing in the best conditions of his third term, giving a speech at the spectacular concentration of women of popular origin – the margaridas, in homage to a great leader, named Margarida, assassinated a few years ago – and signing his first law of agrarian reform.
