opportunity to find sponsors in the US 2024-02-21 14:39:36

Welcome Connect, a platform that allows humanitarian parole recipients to create a profile and connect directly with potential sponsors in the US, will reopen for registration tomorrow, February 20.

The platform has proven to be a crucial place where beneficiaries can find someone in the United States to be their sponsor, and potential sponsors can connect with newcomers seeking refuge.

As reported through their official channels, in one year, more than 15,000 sponsors have supported more than 7,000 refugees as they join communities in the US.

It is important to point out, however, that Cubans have not had much luck with the page. From Welcome US they have alleged that they do not have enough sponsors for the current demand.

What should you know about registering for Welcome Connect, the platform for finding sponsors?

Welcome Connect enrollment will be continuous, but limited and scheduled.

The registration page will open for beneficiary registrations on the third Tuesday of each month. Once the enrollment limit for a program is reached, enrollment will be paused again until the following month. February 20, March 19 and April 16 are the most immediate opening dates at Welcome Connect.

Please note that once the enrollment threshold for a program is reached, enrollment will be paused again until the following month. Be sure to check this page on the designated day of each month for your chance to sign up for Welcome Connect.

What time does Welcome Connect open?

Registration will open at 3 PM Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which means:

  • If you are in Nicaragua, registration will open at 9 am (Central Standard Time)
  • If you are in Haiti or Cuba, registration will open at 10 am (Eastern Standard Time)
  • If you are in Venezuela, registration will open at 11:00 a.m. (Atlantic Standard Time).
  • If you are in Ukraine, registration will open at 17:00 (Eastern European Time).

on the platform, beneficiaries will create a profile with basic information about themselves. Once the profile is complete, they will be able to view potential sponsors and select up to 7 to send them a message. A sponsor will not be able to view a beneficiary’s profile until the beneficiary has sent them a message.

Welcome Connect continues to look for sponsors. “Sponsorship is one of the few safe ways for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, Ukrainians and Venezuelans to find refuge in the United States,” they point out from X.
