In the streets of Outremeuse, the festivities begin this Monday August 14 with flowers offered to all the Maries of the district. Celebrations drunk until the end of the night, but always in moderation, just to be ready the next morning.
Because August 15 continues with the mass in Walloon and the procession of the Black Virgin. “We have a very old Black Madonna which is carried by the scouts through the neighborhood, and which is usually in bloom” explains Francis Atta, the president of the Free Republic of Outremeuse.
An old tradition to which must be added, on the afternoon of the 15th, the procession of the giants. A family moment that delights young and old alike. “You never see the same people there” continues the president. “Apart from the head of the procession which is always made up of Liège elements, like the giants of the province of Liège, we will find guest folk groups.”
