Over 15,000 new infections in Austria

The number of new cases is well above the seven-day average of 10,648. The incidence has increased slightly.

In the last 24 hours, 15,149 new corona infections were registered in Austria. There were more on April 7th. The value is well above the seven-day average of 10,648 new cases. Since yesterday, nine more people have died of or with Covid-19.

1151 infected people are in a hospital. However, this number should be treated with caution, as around one third of patients did not need hospital treatment. 66 people are in an intensive care unit, ten more than yesterday.

The new infections are divided among the federal states as follows: Vienna has the most new cases with 3953, and this is also where the most tests are carried out. This is followed by Lower Austria (3083), Upper Austria (2593), Styria (1720), Tyrol (1352) and Salzburg (917). The fewest were reported in Vorarlberg (559), Burgenland (501) and Carinthia (471).

In Austria, 118,711 people are currently infected with the virus. The 7-day incidence increased slightly to 837.37. In the past 24 hours, 96,259 new PCR tests have been registered. The positive rate was 15.74 percent.

Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 4,562,210 positive test results in Austria. As of today (July 13, 9:30 a.m.), 18,909 people with Sars-CoV-2 infection have died across Austria and 4,424,590 have recovered.
