Over 18 years of age may apply anticovid reinforcement 4 months after completing their scheme

The Government indicated that there are still about 5 million adults over 50 who have not yet applied their reinforcement.

After the Council of Ministers that was summoned at 3 pm on January 11, President Iván Duque reported that all adults over 18 years of age will be able to apply the anticovid booster doses four months after having acquired their vaccination schedule.

In turn, Duque pointed out that all people who have had covid-19 can be vaccinated 30 days after contracting the disease.

“Vaccination is the best protection we have,” said Duque, who reiterated that the guidelines recently announced by the Ministry of Health – which include reducing the isolation time of those infected with coronavirus to seven days and prioritizing covid tests for populations risk – adhere to the recommendations of medical experts.

“These days we are returning from our vacation time”, assured the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, and invited citizens to get vaccinated in the coming days. He warned that there are still about 5 million over the age of 50 who have not had their booster dose. In addition, he said that about four million children under the age of 12 can receive the anticovid vaccine and have not.

“At this time we have enough doses of Sinovac to proceed with the vaccination of children,” added Ruiz.

Finally, the head of the Health portfolio assured that the decisions they are taking aim to mitigate the risks of citizenship in the face of the circulation of the omicron variant of the coronavirus.
