ÖVP “Super Minister” Kocher: “I will not join the ÖVP”

Next time a woman once more?

Kocher commented on the fact that the new appointments to ministerial posts and state secretariats are now increasingly being controlled by the ÖVP federal and state governments: “It’s difficult for me to judge, I’m not a party member.” Of course there are interests and vested rights in every party, but he said. When asked regarding the gender ratio in the ÖVP government team, Kocher said: “I really hope that next time it will be women’s turn.”

Although an excessively lively change in personnel is apparently not desired in the coming weeks and months: “We can see in the government’s work that it is stable, that it is introducing a great many laws.” He hopes that this will remain the case in terms of personnel for a long time, says Kocher.

The merging of business and work does not suit the opposition. The SPÖ fears that employee interests will get under the wheels. “Of course, the employee side will play a major role, I vouch for that,” promised Kocher.

What Kocher, who does not consider the term “super minister” appropriate, will no longer be: ÖVP party member. “I will not join the ÖVP at the moment, that’s not an issue,” he said.
