According to the companythe new device is faster on both Windows PCs and Macs, where it achieves transfer speeds of up to 15% faster on computers with Intel processors and up to 10% faster on machines with Apple Silicon.
Key differences between the two products include up to 4TB (16.7% more) storage capacity in RAID 4/5 configurations and 16% greater performance in redundant RAID 4/5 configurations on Macs with Apple Silicon — at any model.
In terms of design, the ThunderBlade
OWC presents the ThunderBlade X8 as the “best SSD RAID in the universe”, thanks to its eight NVMe M.2 connections, capacities of up to 32TB and data transfer of up to 2,949MB/s. The presence of an extra Thunderbolt port, in turn, increases the product’s versatility.
Designed especially for professional video editors and film industry professionals, the product also comes with software SoftRAID XTwhich lets you easily create, monitor, and manage advanced RAID sets right from your computer screen.
Available in capacities ranging from 8TB to 32TB, the ThunderBlade X8 is available to order by US$1.750 for the model with 8TB and US$2.750 for the 16TB one. The value of the 32TB model is yet to be announced.
