The day of the week on which children are the most “uncontrollable” has been revealed

Scientists from the University of Pennsylvania found that as the school week progresses, children become increasingly unruly. At the same time, the peak of “disobedience,” impulsiveness and inattention occurs on Friday. The results of the work were published in the journal Child Development.

The study involved 60 children aged three to six years. The subjects were instructed to wear accelerometers (devices that record the direction and speed of an object’s movement in space) to determine how mobile they were at school. Using this data in conjunction with teachers’ comments, the researchers were able to determine which days of the week children were the most inattentive and unruly.

It turned out that it became more difficult for children to control their behavior with each school day. The lowest level of ability to self-regulate and maintain attention occurred on Friday. On the same day, the children were the most impulsive and disobedient.

According to scientists, perseverance training can improve concentration. The ability to “physically calm down” is directly related to academic success and patience (the ability to resist impulse).
