The Colombian Prosecutor’s Office announced today the seizure of a property that belonged to drug lord Pablo Escobar, a place where until recently there was a museum full of objects alluding to the powerful drug trafficker killed in 1993 and where a brother of the leader of the Medellín Cartel lives. .

The house seized in Medellín “would have been acquired by Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria,” with money obtained from his activities as a drug trafficker between the 1980s and 1990s, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

The property was “put in the name of front men” and in addition to the museum it houses Roberto de Jesús Escobar, brother of Pablo Escobar.

“She has occupied it uninterruptedly, she has promoted several improvements and adaptations, and managed to have it remain in the public records under the title of a woman,” who today appears as the owner, the statement says.

The fight between Escobar and his son over the place

The place included a strong dispute between Roberto Escobar, alias Osito, and his son, apparently the only heirs of the drug trafficker.

“It was the subject of several transfers in order to avoid the persecution of this property by the State,” the director of the prosecution’s asset forfeiture unit, Liliana Donado, told W Radio, according to the AFP news agency.

The accusing body released photographs showing a collection of objects alluding to the drug trafficker, including a car and a motorcycle, displayed behind a display case, paintings, photographs and even representations of Escobar in plastic figures.

The investigation was led by the Criminal Finance section of the prosecutor’s office, which estimated that the property is worth about 12,000 million Colombian pesos (almost 3 million dollars).

According to Semana magazine, the property has already been affected with precautionary measures and will be temporarily managed by the Sociedad de Activos Especiales (SAE).

Pablo Escobar, the cocaine baron who spread terror in his war against the State to avoid extradition to the United States, was killed in an operation on December 2, 1993, one day after his 44th birthday.

He is credited with the murder of at least 5,000 people, including civilians, judges, journalists, politicians and candidates, in addition to hundreds of explosive attacks in Medellín, Bogotá, Cali and Pereira.
