New Delhi: As the 16th chapter of the IPL is about to begin, Delhi Capitals will be without the services of their key player and captain Rishabh Pant this time. David Warner is leading the team this time instead of Ball, who was seriously injured in a car accident and is resting. Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting admits that the absence of the ball is irreplaceable.

“The ball is a big loss for the team. It is unthinkable to replace the ball with another player. Pant is the best player in the world in all three formats of cricket. Pant is in the list of top five Test batsmen. He is our hero. Our No. 4 batting middle-order player, a great finisher. It is impossible for another player to replace him.’

“Young all-rounder Aman Khan is training well in the nets. The team has hope in him. In the absence of the ball, there are many players in the squad who are capable of performing in the middle order. Aman Khan, Rovman Powell, Akshar Patel and others. Akshar has improved his batting a lot in the last 12 months. But I openly admit that there is no player as good as Pant.’

‘Captain Warner will come to the crease as an opener. Warner batted at number 4 in the last ODI against India. But I am not interested in playing Warner at number four. Warner is one of the most successful openers in the history of IPL. He also opened brilliantly for Delhi last season.’

‘Warner is a player who can win the game with his batting skills. He is an experienced actor. He is also our hero’- said Ponting.

Prithvi Shah is going to have his best IPL season yet. He has changed the batting. There is also a change in attitude. Ponty says that confidence can be seen in his eyes.
