“Parenting Permit” Discussed by Denis Ducarme in Response to Jacqueline Galant’s “Counter Pillar” Remarks

Jacqueline Galant’s comment in LN24’s new show “Les Piliers de Comptoir” that “In some cases, you would need a permit to be a parent” has caused controversy, even within her own party. Denis Ducarme (MR) criticized her proposal on Bel RTL’s “La matinale”, joking that if we need a permit for parenting, we should also need one for politics.

Galant clarified her thoughts on social media, explaining that her use of the word “permitted” was aimed at changing the way people view procreation, not prohibiting it. There would be no authorization to have a child, but parents would need to declare their intention to have a child and be assisted by social services to ensure safety. Galant believes parents who do not respect their children should face stronger consequences.

“In some cases, you would need a permit to be a parent. ” Jacqueline Galant’s punchline in LN24’s new show “Les Piliers de Comptoir” did not go unnoticed. And she is not unanimous, including within her own party.

This Wednesday morning, in Bel RTL’s “La matinale”, Denis Ducarme (MR) thus tackled his liberal colleague. Asked about the proposal of the mayor of Jurbise, the former participant in the game “Les traitors” (RTL-TVI) considered that it was “about a pillar of the counter”, in reference to the broadcast of LN24 in which Jacqueline Galant, columnist, mentioned her proposal.

“I answer with a lot of humor, but if we ask ourselves this type of question, we must also ask ourselves if we do not need a license to do politics”, dropped Denis Ducarme just before concluding the interview. .

On Monday, Jacqueline Galant had made a point of clarifying her thoughts since the broadcast, the day before, of the program “The counter pillars”. “The word allowed is quite strong but the idea is to spark a debate on the duties that involve being a parent, because some tend to forget it today”, she explains on social networks . “The main message is that the use of the term ‘permitted’ aims above all to change the view of procreation. The idea is not to prohibit having children but rather to place beacons to tell future parents that they must assume the consequences of their actions.

“There is therefore no prohibition on procreation”, insists Jacqueline Galant. “On the other hand, the fact of using this term wants to make it possible to change the outlook vis-à-vis procreation. For this proposal, there would be no authorization to have. We are talking here about declaring that you want a child and not declaring the birth of a child. If you want to have a child, you make a child but you have to declare it and from there, you will be accompanied by social services, who would come to see if it is not without danger. Today, in order to adopt, parents must go through a veritable Stations of the Cross, with a whole series of criteria to be respected. In my opinion, you have to be much tougher with those who don’t respect anything, starting with their own child. ”

In conclusion, Jacqueline Galant’s proposal to require a permit for parenthood has certainly stirred up a debate and brought about strong opinions from both within and outside of her party. While some see it as a way to enforce responsible parenting, others believe it’s an infringement on personal freedom. Regardless of one’s stance, it’s important to continue discussing the responsibilities that come with raising a child and finding ways to ensure their well-being. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll see a licensing process for becoming a parent, but until then, let’s strive to be the best parents we can be for our children.
