Park Chan-wook ‘Best Director’, Song Kang-ho’s ‘Best Actor’… Korean film success at Cannes Film Festival

A Korean film won Best Director and Best Actor at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.

At the 75th Cannes Film Festival awards ceremony held at the Lumière Grand Theater in Cannes, France on the 28th (local time), director Park Chan-wook received the Best Director award for the movie ‘Decision to break up’.

This marks Park’s third Cannes award. He won the Jury Prize for ‘Old Boy’ in 2003 and the Jury Prize for ‘Bat’ in 2009.

Director Park said, “There were times when all mankind raised the border high during the Corona 19, but we were able to share a single fear and anxiety. It was an opportunity for all of us to realize that it is precious.”

Actor Song Kang-ho, who starred in the movie ‘The Broker’, became the first Korean actor to win the Best Actor Award. This is the second time a Korean actress won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival after Jeon Do-yeon won the Best Actress award for her role in the film ‘Miryang’ in 2007.

Kang-ho Song said, “I am so very grateful and honored. I am deeply grateful to the great artist, Director Koreeda,” and “I dedicate this honor to many movie fans.”
