Park Jung-Yeon Plays a Double Agent in 100 Days of Deception

  • Park Jung-yeon portrays Kim Myeong-nam in tvN’s 20th-anniversary special weekend drama 100 Days of Deception.
  • The character maintains a dual life as an affectionate daughter to a pro-Japanese collaborator while aiding the Resistance Group.
  • Recent broadcasts feature heightened tension following a failed assassination attempt and an encounter with Sato Shin-ichi’s forces.

The Dual Life of Kim Myeong-nam

In 100 Days of Deception, Park takes on a complex role that requires balancing conflicting loyalties. Outwardly, Kim Myeong-nam acts as an affectionate and dutiful daughter to Ki Seung-eok, played by Lee Ki-young. Behind closed doors, however, she harbors deep inner struggles against the injustices of the era and quietly aids the Resistance Group.

OSEN reported that Park intricately expresses her character’s psychological burden. Her performance captures the fear of losing a loved one alongside the heavy emotional debt of her father’s political alignment. The stark contrast between her bright public demeanor and her private guilt adds considerable depth to the unfolding narrative.

High Tension Following the Failed Assassination

Recent episodes delivered a sharp spike in dramatic tension as the Resistance Group’s second assassination attempt fell straight into a trap set by Sato Shin-ichi, played by Jin Seon-gyu. During the raid, Yoo So-ran—portrayed by Kim Hyun-joo—faced imminent discovery by Fukuda, played by Kim Jung-hee.

When Fukuda opened the dressing room door, he found a startled Myeong-nam instead of the fugitive. Stepping in to diffuse the situation, Lee Sun’s character, Lee Young-bok, clarified that Myeong-nam belonged to Joseon Bangjik as the owner’s daughter while identifying himself simply as a worker at the same enterprise.

Concealing the Wounded Resistance Fighter

Once the police patrols withdrew, Myeong-nam and Young-bok confirmed each other’s safety. Discovering that Young-bok had sustained a gunshot wound and collapsed, Myeong-nam brought him to her room, hid him in her bed, and tended to his recovery.

Despite her pleas for him to stay, Young-bok returned to his own quarters and found a parting message written on his medical bandage. The brief inscription left by Myeong-nam read, Don’t die, never, conveying her desperate worry and deepening affection for a man from an entirely different social standing.

Uncertainties Surrounding Ki Seung-eok’s Awareness

The plot thickened further when Ki Seung-eok boasted to Governor-General Sato Shin-ichi about his daughter Myeong-nam, displaying her photograph during a conversation. This interaction immediately fueled viewer curiosity regarding whether the ruthless collaborator will eventually uncover his daughter’s secret activities.

As the narrative progresses, questions remain over whether Myeong-nam can sustain her clandestine work with the Resistance while protecting her forbidden romance with Young-bok. Production is handled through Salt Entertainment, with further character development scheduled for upcoming broadcasts on tvN.
