All-education rally in Propylaia

In the passing of the bill entitled “Strengthening the Public University – Framework for the operation of non-profit branches of foreign universities”which is expected to be voted on today, Friday, March 8, 195 student associations are reacting, who are participating in the rally and demanding the withdrawal of the bill, which provides – among other things – for the establishment of branches of foreign universities in our country.

“Everyone at the pan-Hellenic student rally on Friday, March 8, the day of the passing of the bill, at 12.00 in Propylaia! Let Athens sink”, is the central call of the student associations. On the side of the students, there will be the Federation of University Students, POSDEP, which calls with its unanimous decision to mobilize the sector as well as the Federation of Administrative Personnel of Tertiary Education (ODPTE). Both have declared a strike for today.

In this context, in order to ensure the right of citizens to assemble, the Greek police will take the necessary traffic measures by implementing detours and traffic interruptions as the case may be, so that the social and economic life of the city is not excessively disturbed.

Specifically, the Traffic regulations will be applied gradually and on a case-by-case basis – where necessary and depending on the movement of the demonstrators – in streets around the perimeter of the Propylaia, Omonia Square (Patision, Aiolou, etc.), Syntagma Square (Othonos, Amalia and Vasilissa Sofia Avenues) as well as and on the University, Stadium and Academy roads.

As reported by EL.AS. “drivers of vehicles are requested to avoid moving on the above roads until the completion of the gatherings – mobilisations. In case of application of additional traffic regulations, there will be a further update”.
