Clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces intensified on July 2, as the war in the capital and west of the country entered its 12th week, with prospects for a peaceful end to the conflict still unclear, Archyde.com reported.
According to reports, the sound of air strikes, shelling and small arms shooting can be heard everywhere, especially in the city of Omdurman and the capital Khartoum. The conflict has deepened the humanitarian crisis and may involve other regional interests.
There was no immediate response from the military in a statement from the Rapid Support Forces that it shot down a military warplane and a drone over Bahri.
The Rapid Support Forces reportedly dominated the ground in the capital and were accused of looting and seizing houses, while the army focused on airstrikes and shelling.
The army released photos of what it said were recruits last week after Army Chief of Staff Abdul Fattah al-Burhan called on young people to join the fight against the Rapid Support Forces last week, reports said.
